Wear Gray For A Day on 9-18-09

Wear Gray Day is on 9-18-09 it is to help improve brain cancer awareness.  What do you need to do? Where Are They Now?

For the record, I want to state that this whole thing started with a free group gift and my first tattoo.

(NO, I haven’t been smoking anything!  It’s just been a slow Sunday, okay?)

To begin with, I got a free group gift dress from a store I had never been to before, Kunglers.  (LOVE!  Many squees!) Then, I hopped over to a tat shop I had heard good things about, and purchased my first tattoo.  (Yeah, yeah, I know, after 2 1/2 years… but I’m not a body art girl at heart, y’all, it took a while.)

Anyhow, when I got home and tried on both together, I suddenly realized that I REALLY resembled a certain girl from a certain cartoon.  You know, IF this cartoon character were all grown up now and living in SL instead of Saturday morning TV, this is what she would look like.

From there, I couldn’t stop.  I went through my whole closet, revisiting old favorites, working in brand new finds, and created a themed lookbook for the day.  And/or a ripoff of the VH1 show, Where Are They Now.  Take a look:

Can you see it?  Can you see the three little girls from various cartoons, but in a post-childhood-fame incarnation, after years of partying too hard and falling in with the wrong crowd, dating Corey Haim and Vanilla Ice, and now trying to stage a comeback?  “Where are they now??”

(NO, I haven’t been smoking a THING! I swear!)

I hope you can see it– it makes my giggly and non-constructively industrious afternoon totally worth it if you do.  If not– well, I love these looks anyhow, especially since so many of the pieces are new items, and I hope you enjoy the style notes and slurl!

Inspiration from Black Swan Show

If you are looking for truly unique, exquisite couture, get your pixelated bottom over to the Black Swan sim!  “Swansong” is the final fashion event of this marvelous sim, and you will find one of a kind creations from a huge array of designers here.  I took a trip over for the first show on July 27, and it was… *sigh*… truly inspiring.  To give you a sample of the stunning pieces on offer, here are two creations I got my hands on:

This is the Vayu gown from Zaara.  Her inspiration?  Wind, of course!  It is such a gorgeous and airy silhouette with the skirt composed entirely of thin strands, some of which have lovely detailed gold leaves on them.  Once I put it on, all I could think of was Alphonse Mucha and his iconic art deco girls.  My pictures are unapologetically channeling his style, I admit, but… I couldn’t help it!

Brand New: Coco and ICoN

Coco and ICoN have accomplished great things this weekend.  First of all, they put out some of the most gorgeous accessory pieces I have seen this summer… and two months in, that says a lot!!  Truly, stunning work, and worth an immediate trip to pick it up.

Secondly, they have reminded us all that summer is NOT over yet!  Yay!  By August, it can be alarmingly easy to start forward thinking yourself right into back-to-school mode and then holiday to-do lists, isn’t it?  Arghhhh!  Well, not this year, not for me!  Time to enjoy the season of leisure!

I took my new stuff, found a beach playground, and here is the result.

The bikini is a beautiful design from deVOL, and the ICoN jewelry was specifically designed to go with it.  I am madly in love with the little wraparound pareo that comes with it…  fits so easily, and looks chic!  The ICoN jewelry goes great with the bikini, but like with all of ICoN’s stuff, it is super-versatile and I know I’ll be wearing this signature piece with many outfits to come.

Lastly, Coco finishes off the true Sweet Life summer vibe with a killer straw hat (hair included!), adorable clutch purse, and timeless espadrilles.  The espadrilles come with a HUD and skin matching system that is pretty easy to use… which is good for me and my lack of patience for fiddling to find perfect skin tones!
