Happy Holidays

It has been awhile since I have been able to make a post, but it is really nice to have a few extra minutes out of my day to sit down and getaway into SL.  The cold weather always brings my favorite time of the year the holidays.  Yes I am one of those people who shops early for gifts, plays holiday music all day, fill my home with holiday scents and decorates in time for Thanksgiving.  So why not in SL?  Well my bf and I are not that quite organized in SL but slowly we are sorting out the sim in time for a warm and cozy holiday dinner with close friends to sip eggnog and hot apple cider in front of our warm fireplace.

This year I am starting a new holiday tradition with my friends in SL.  Yeah we can do the traditional holiday dinners in SL and gift exchange, but why not get creative with ideas to spend quality time with those that make your SL one of a kind. This year I have decided to invite my friends over a few days throughout the month to have an all out blast to decorate gift boxes, snowmen, ornaments, gingerbread men/women etc. It does take time to setup create and/or buy the items you need, so make sure to plan it out well.  (*Just a side note make sure to check the permission of items when purchasing to make sure they allow you to share them. )  Once you have all your supplies, arrange them in order and set them to buy at 0L.  It is a really good idea to set out an example you have created so your friends can have ideas while assembling together their very own project.  Make sure you have a variety of items, for example, for a snowman create a cone nose, twisty nose, twig from a branch nose and so on then everyone can choose from several different pieces to make their very own creative one of a kind snowman.  Why not set your sim/parcel radio to holiday music when everyone is there to share the holiday spirit. Even if it is a bit artsy/crafty/Martha Stewarty you get an opportunity to spend time with your very special friends.

Weekend Chic

Whether you are hanging out with the girls, taking care of the long list of errands or spending time with your special cutie at the park this is a perfect outfit.  Not only is it functional it is stylish with a mix of textures and colors that compliment one another.  Although it is still summer, quickly approaching is autumn which leaves a cool breeze in the air in the evening.  The 3/4 sleeve sweater gives just enough warmth along with the leggings. Where Are They Now?

For the record, I want to state that this whole thing started with a free group gift and my first tattoo.

(NO, I haven’t been smoking anything!  It’s just been a slow Sunday, okay?)

To begin with, I got a free group gift dress from a store I had never been to before, Kunglers.  (LOVE!  Many squees!) Then, I hopped over to a tat shop I had heard good things about, and purchased my first tattoo.  (Yeah, yeah, I know, after 2 1/2 years… but I’m not a body art girl at heart, y’all, it took a while.)

Anyhow, when I got home and tried on both together, I suddenly realized that I REALLY resembled a certain girl from a certain cartoon.  You know, IF this cartoon character were all grown up now and living in SL instead of Saturday morning TV, this is what she would look like.

From there, I couldn’t stop.  I went through my whole closet, revisiting old favorites, working in brand new finds, and created a themed lookbook for the day.  And/or a ripoff of the VH1 show, Where Are They Now.  Take a look:

Can you see it?  Can you see the three little girls from various cartoons, but in a post-childhood-fame incarnation, after years of partying too hard and falling in with the wrong crowd, dating Corey Haim and Vanilla Ice, and now trying to stage a comeback?  “Where are they now??”

(NO, I haven’t been smoking a THING! I swear!)

I hope you can see it– it makes my giggly and non-constructively industrious afternoon totally worth it if you do.  If not– well, I love these looks anyhow, especially since so many of the pieces are new items, and I hope you enjoy the style notes and slurl!

67 Lindens and a Dream

I had 67 Lindens when I woke up this morning.  I was about to add more, but then a little trumpet sounded in my head, calling me to a challenge… HOW many outfits could I put together for just 67 Lindens? Outfits that look, to me, as nicely put together as anything I have actually purchased?  Could I really live the Sweet Life I had become accustomed to on such a diminished budget!?

You should know– I am NOT a budget shopper.  I am a total sucker, the kind the shops can’t wait to open their doors for every day.  I am not proud of it.  This challenge was really a test of my own (heretofore unseen) self-control, and a test to see if I could look like a diva without spending like one.

The rules: I could use my existing purchased skin, since I didn’t feel like photoshopping demo marks off my face, or waiting a million years for a “J” to come up in a lucky chair.  (See, this is just the kind of attitude that normally thwarts my frugality…).  So skins were in.  Also allowed: accessorizing my new outfits with a few freebies I had managed to like enough to keep in my inventory.  JUST accessories, no main outfit pieces allowed!

In the end, I spent:

L$51 on dresses

L$ 11 on tops or pants

L$2 on tights

L$ 1 on shoes

L$1 on hair

L$1 on accessories

… and I used 2 hairs that I had already purchased.  I think the phrase is, “reduce, REUSE, and recycle”, right?  🙂

Handbag AO Love

Just a quick Look of the Day, inspired by a new AO I found– the handbag AO from SEmotion!  I am already a huge fan of theirs, and I use the HUD with 3 of my fave AOs, so this add on for handbags has easily opened up a whole new world.  YAYYY!  The poses are natural, and the pack includes two version, one for hand bags and another for shoulder bags.  The pics I took below show a few of the AO poses…

So, I dug out a brand spanking new bag I got from ICoN, and some gorgeous new pieces from Slow Kitchen and Pink, and voila!  Ready to go do some more shopping– THIS time with a purse that looks as great as the clothes.  🙂
